Privacy policy

Last updated 7 November 2026

The short version

HouseLife is a shared calendar and household organiser for the family you live with. Everything you put in it belongs to your household and is only visible to the people you invite. We do not sell your data, and we do not run advertising or tracking cookies.

Who runs HouseLife

HouseLife is operated by LifeGroup Global (ABN 94 034 297 137), an Australian business, and handles personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles. Admins can export or delete the household, and members can delete their own account, from Settings. For privacy questions or requests, email support@houselife.com.au.

What we collect

  • Your account: your email address and password. Passwords are stored hashed by our authentication provider, never as plain text.
  • Household details: the names you give your family members, the emoji avatar you pick, and any profile photo you upload.
  • What you type in: calendar events, chores and points, shopping lists, meal plans, recipes you save, garden plantings, contacts, sticky notes, bin collection days and your wall mode layout.
  • Photos: pictures you upload to your household photo folder, to a profile, or to use as a background.
  • Calendar links: the web address of a Google, Apple or Outlook calendar you choose to link, so new events can be pulled in.
  • Your weather location: a place name or coordinates you save, used only to show the local forecast.

We do not collect payment details today, because we are not charging yet. When subscriptions open, the payment provider will handle card details — HouseLife will not see or store your full card number.

The AI helper

The "How can I help" helper is one conversation at a time. Nothing is saved once you close it, and no chat history is kept. While it is open it can look at your household data and make changes you ask for, so it is only available to people already signed in to your household. It acts only with your role's permissions, and changes happen only after you tap Confirm; confirmed changes are listed in the Activity log. Your prompts and household data are not used to train AI models.

Where it is stored

HouseLife's database, file storage and authentication are hosted by Lovable Cloud. Your household's rows are protected by row-level security, which means the database itself refuses to hand your data to anyone outside your household — not just the app hiding it.

Storage on your device and reminders

HouseLife keeps some information in your browser so it works smoothly: your sign-in, shopping list changes made while offline (sent once you reconnect, and cleared when you sign out), and Wall mode settings. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

If you turn on reminders, we store your browser's push subscription so we can send the event, chore and bin night reminders you chose. Turn them off in Settings or your device's notification settings at any time.

Who can see your household

  • People you invite with your household invite link. They get their own login and see the same calendar, chores, meals and photos.
  • Nobody else. There is no public directory of households, no search of other people's data, and no sharing with advertisers or data brokers.

Services we lean on

  • Lovable Cloud — hosting, database, file storage and sign-in.
  • Open-Meteo — the weather forecast. It receives the location you saved, nothing else.
  • Your calendar provider — only if you link one, and only the calendar feed address you paste in.
  • Lovable AI — the language model behind the helper, for the messages in the conversation you are having.

Your public calendar feed

HouseLife can give you a private web address that other apps and calendars can read. Anyone who has that address can see your calendar, so treat it like a password. If it leaks, rotate it in Settings and the old address stops working straight away.

Children

You must be 18 or over to create a household account. A household Admin may add a child profile with a name or nickname, emoji avatar and colour, without an email address or separate login. We also store the household association, creation time and the time the Admin acknowledged the child data notice. An Admin may optionally add allergy and dietary tags (gluten, dairy, egg, nuts, seafood, pork, vegetarian, vegan); these are health-related information, are visible only to household Admins, and are used only within the app to flag recipes that may not suit the child — they are never sent to third parties or used for advertising. Child profiles do not store a date of birth, password, email address or profile photo.

Before adding a child profile, the Admin must confirm they are the child's parent or guardian, or have their permission to store the information. Use a nickname if you prefer, and avoid adding unnecessary sensitive information.

Who can see it: only household Admins can read and manage the child profile records. A child's name may also appear in events, chores, points or notes entered by an Admin. Access to those entries follows household roles; private event details are restricted to the creator and Admins. People looking at a wall mode screen or printable sheet may see shared names and entries, and anyone holding your calendar subscription link may see non-private event details. These surfaces mask private events as Busy.

Optional sign-in: an Admin can choose to create a Child-role invitation for a separate email-based account. That account stores an email address and authentication details in addition to any display profile; it is not automatically linked to the profile. The Child role allows viewing the calendar, ticking chores assigned to that login and adding shopping items, not changing settings, points or members.

Deleting children's data: an Admin can remove a child profile from Settings → Children or Members. This deletes its name, avatar, colour, allergy and dietary tags, and consent record. Existing events, chores, points, notes or other entries mentioning the child remain and must be removed separately by an Admin. Removing a child's household login access in Members does not delete their account. Admins can also use Reset app to clear the household's content, including profiles and photos. Admins can also delete the whole household from Settings (erased after 14 days). Copies already downloaded, printed or saved in another calendar cannot be recalled.

How long we keep it, and deleting it

We keep your household's data until it is removed. Admins can delete individual entries and photos, or use Reset app in Settings to clear household content. Removing a household member revokes access but does not erase their account or shared entries.

  • Get a copy: an Admin can download a ZIP of all household records (JSON and CSV) plus uploaded photos from Settings.
  • Delete the household: an Admin types the household name to confirm. Everything, including photos, is permanently erased after 14 days; any Admin can cancel before then.
  • Delete your own account: members who are not Admins can delete their account and login from Settings. Entries they shared with the household stay.

You can also ask us for access to, or correction of, your personal information by emailing support@houselife.com.au. If you are unhappy with how we handle a privacy concern, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).

If you added optional sample data while trying HouseLife out, you can remove it in one go from Settings without touching anything real.

If this changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters to you, we will say so in the app and update the date at the top of this page.
